Zodiac (2007)

(Written on 16. 9. 2014)

So I’m watching the movie Zodiac from 2007 where one of the main cast is Robert Downey Jr.

(Continued on 17. 9. 2014)

Well, seems like I stopped after just one sentence. Well, I guess the movie was way too captivating for me not to watch. I did finish watching it though. And I have to say that the second part was not really that interesting. Yeah, that morron was running here and there trying to find out who Zodiac was, but hey, I was watching it because of RDJ and in the second half, he has one flimsy appearance… Not cool at all!

But still, I did enjoy the movie. All the cyphers and codes and the hunt for the killer. And one more thing, Mark Ruffalo (is that how it’s spelled?), the guy who played Bruce Banner in Avengers, was playing in this movie. That’s another good thing. well, he’s one of those in whose movies i haven’t yet looked, but I will.

So, if you like crime and mysteries, I think you would enjoy the movie. It was not amazing, but it was pretty good, that’s for sure.

However, I can’t say I like the females that were in the movie. I mean, I can understand the guys had wifes, but seriously, I don’t much like women… There are exceptions – mainly from Marvel. But that’s another thing entirely.

Okay, I should probably stop, as I’m writing complete bulshit.

X. Aratare – Birth Rite

Birth RiteA darkish book about a boy who is living the life of someone else. Kinda. He was kidnapped from his crib and raised by some other people, away from his clan that has complicated french name! And I will not write it!

Then, he somehow becomes interested in this weird mannor and his inhabitant(s). And then he meets them. After his friend is devouered by  this worm-ish thingy.

I started the book a while back and finished not too long ago. So I don’t really remember the begining. But the ending is dissapointning. It ends with the boy defying his true heritage and going back to his “foster” parrents.

The plot idea is good, but I think it could have been written differently. In a more interesting way and with a different ending. I probably won’t be reading anything else from this author. And frankly, I don’t recommend the book.

There are definitely better slash books out there.

See ya.

Sasha L. Miller – Playing with Shadows

Playing with ShadowsOkay, this story was so cool! A monastery in the middle of nowhere! A servant that is to be sacrificed to demons because there just doesn’t seem to be any other way. And then, an honest priest that wants to save that servant and deal with the demons.

Corrin, the servant, was supposed to be in the monastery eight more months. But, fate would not have that. So, when the head priest starts taking groups of servants to do this shady job of cleaning one and the same table again and again, Corrin is confronted by Rafferty. One of the priests. And he tells the servant all about the demons in the shadows and the sacrifice to apease them. The bloody sacrifice that will most like be Corrin himself. Unless, they do this ritual that would take care of the demons.

Corrin agrees to help. However, when he is one of the ones to clean the dreaded table, things start moving fast. So the next thing that happens is Corrin running to Rafferty and them barricading themselves in Rafferty’s room to do the ritual.

All’s well ends well. And the two of them start snogging and end up leaving to check on the other priests as the demons are exterminated.

A nice little story that captivates. It took a bit of time for me to finish it, but it was worth it. And it was from Amazon, and for free! Isn’t that nice?

So, it might not have that much of slash in it, but the atmosfere is great and anyway, just go and read it! I recommend it! Will definitely be looking into the author. Hopefully, there is more from them and hopefully, it is not too pricey.

See ya.

Legend of Grimrock

By a chance I stumbled upon a great game. It was an add on a page I was reading. And so I clicked on it and read the description of the game. Of course, since if was interesting, I went and downloaded the game. It’s called Legend of Grimrock and it is dungeon based. You create a party of four (or you can play with the default party) and then you play.

The story begins with the party being thrown into a prison of sorts called Grimrock. And from there it’s up to you to find your way down to the lowest level. If you manage, you will be free, or something. I am definitely not there yet. To be honest, I just finished the fird level. Counting from top of course. And I have to admit, that the game is pretty scary! It’s dark and you have to watch your torches, because if they go out and there are non in the immedeate vicinity, you’re doomed. Because it would be pitch black.

Throughout the game you collect equipment and weapons. And supplies, as you just can’t have your heroes hungry. That wouldn’t do. I’d be careful with those though, because the lower you go, the harder it is to find any. And since I’m only at the begining of level four, that has to count for something, right? The most will be in level one, so collect it all. Or the heroes will starve.

The game as a whole is pretty dark and while I normaly don’t play games like this one, because they are too scary, I enjoy this one, even though I’m always on edge when playing. I always wonder what monster will be around the next corner, and so on. So far, the worst to deal with was the group of skeletal warriors that fought as a group. Pretty damn hard to get rid of. And then there are the spiders! And they are poisonous! They killed my minotaur! Good thing that those gigantic blue crystals will revive a party member, right?

Oh, and can somebody walk me through making potions? I just don’t understand how to do it! Thank you.

But all in all, the game is great and I’m glad I found it. I was also trying to instal some similar games but windows 8 simply didn’t agree with it, so I only have this one. If you know about similar games that will work on windows 8, please let me know, thanks. :)
