Skyrim

Several years ago I bought a game called Elder Scroll Series IV – Oblivion. You’re probably wondering what that has to do with Skyrim. Well, everything. As it was shortly after that that I got me Skyrim. Simply because I really enjoyed Oblivion and Skyrim was a sort of sequel to it. To be honest, when I first installed Skyrim, I decided that I absolutely hate it. And so it was left in a drawer for years. Then, I gave the original copy to my cousin’s son for when he got a good enough pc to play it on. But then I got into nightcore, which has, at first glance, even less to do with Skyrim than Oblivion. But, there was this nightcored song… The Dragonborn Comes. And I figured that it was from Skyrim. Which got me thinking…. That maybe it was time to give Skyrim another go. So I installed it through steam and started playing.

At first, I got frustrated because it didn’t support my gamepad. But then I decided that screw it, if I could successfully play Oblivion with mouse and keyboard as well as most of Assassin’s Creed games, then I will be just fine playing Skyrim with mouse and keyboard. Though the first thing I did was to play with the keyboard mapping. Made it a bit closer to Oblivion – aka jump with E and action with spacebar. Admittedly, it is still slightly confusing, as the game shows me the original key mapping when it gives hints, but hey, I can manage! I did with Resident Evil 4 and there the key mapping is really ridiculous…

So far, I’m not that far into the game, only just past High Hrotgar, but I’m enjoying it immensely. Though, there is one thing I really don’t like! And that is that you can’t equip spell alongside your bow! At least, I haven’t figured that out yet! In Oblivion, you could equip whatever weapon you wanted to and still cast! That is something I miss here in Skyrim. But I guess we can’t have it all…

Also, someone tell me how to disable the cinematic finishing blows in fight… Those are really annoying and interrupt the gameplay as well as disorient you as to where the next enemy is coming from…

Oh, and the NPC names are crazy! I know it is trying to imitate the nordic tribes and so on and so forth, but come on! I’ve met a lot of characters a lot of times by now and the only names I remember are Ilireth (or something like that) and Alvar. At least Oblivion had normal names… Or maybe it is because I’ve simply been playing Oblivion longer. That’s probably it.

A question for those who also play Skyrim. Do you play with subs on? I mean, I can understand the characters just fine, but usually, I finish reading what they have to say before they finish saying it. Do any of you have the same problem? And is it even a problem? Well, it is in the situation where you can not just skip the speech.

Anyway! I enjoy Skyrim and I hope that by the time I finish the quests I will be able to remember at least some of the names.

And my favorite NPC’s are from Oblivion. Too bad two out of three bit the dust…

Before I finish this post, one more thing. DLC for Skyrim. Is it worth it? I would like this answered by someone who actually played the DLC. Not by someone who just read about it or something. Thanks!

Legend of Grimrock II

Long time no see! Right?

Well, I’m back and I hope I will be able to post more often. I just didn’t have much idea as to what to write. The only thing that has been updated recently, is my english stories site, that I believe has a link in the side menu.

The site is actually linked to what I want to write about. I want to write about the game called Legend of Grimrock II. I had the first game for about two years now. The actuall game, not a pirated version. And then I read that a second installment will be released. That happened in October 2014. And I got it the same year for Christmas.

Though, to be honest, I bought it earlier and just got the money for Christmas.

So I was playing the game, at that time, there were not enough mods, but I made due. I even started on the original game, though I don’t like to play the original unles it has been transformed into a mod. So I’m hoping that Komag or someone will come through like Komag did with LoG 1’s main map.

However, the character system has been revamped to almost perfection. Why almost? Well… They still have to add the choice of elven race to pick from.

I mean, sure, I can just pick human and make my own portrait for them, but that’s not elves…

On the other hand, it’s now easier to play with only one character. Because regardless if you’re a mage or a warrior, you have the same skillset. My recommendation for single cahracter playing is to pick a war mage or whatever it’s called.

Another thing, that has been ravamped, is the alchemy system. You no longer need flasks but on the other hand, you need to have at least one point in the alchemy skill in order to actually do alchemy. Also, if you have the correct ingredients, it let’s you brew potions that permanently raise your strength, stamina, vitality and so on. In Legend of Grimrock 1, this was only possible through mods, for example the mod called Forbidden Halls, which is perfect and if you play Grimrock, I think you should give it a try.

There were other things that were improved, an entire race was added and new portraits were made, which really doesn’t concern me, as I play almost strictly with custom portraits. Especially now, that I figured out how to put them in Grimrock 2. In order to put custom portraits in Grimrock 2, you have to name them in a speciall way. The name of the portrait needs to be: race_gender_something.tga

If named in any other way, the portraits won’t work. I think.

Okay, I checked my own portraits folder for LoG2 and yes, this is correct. You have to name them in that way or it won’t work.

Fun fact: Most of the custom portraits I’m using, are male. I think there are only two females. Maybe, but that’s a big maybe, there are three, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Well, changes or no changes, the game is amazing and if you’re into RPG, fantasy or dungeon crawlers, you just have to try it. Be it the first one or the second one. I think that the second one is better actually, but there’s one thing missing. Apart from the elven race, but there’s not much that I can do about that.

However, there’s a mod missing in the Log2. And that would be the Forbidden halls for LoG2, but since the creator of the Forbidden Halls is no longer active and probably decided to go and crawl into some hole or something, let’s just say, that that will probably not be happening.

Oh well… I’ll just have to find a mod that’s even better than that.

Bye.

How to train your dragon 2

About two days ago, I managed to force myself to watch the second How to train your dragon movie. And man, it was awesome! Okay, I admit I didn’t like Hiccup’s helmet, but other than that, it was amazing. And there were some really funny scenes too!

The gist of the plotline is that Hiccup is flying around and stumbles upon a dragon trapping band. Then, a bunch of dragons take him and Toothless to a frozen spiky kind of a dragon cliff and he meets an interesting dragon “master”. It turns out it is his mother and she’s been living in the cliff with the alpha dragon there for 20 years straight.

The dragon trappers are connected to this evil overlord that comands another alpha dragon and the two alphas clash. During that, Hiccup’s father is killed and the bloody bastard goes and attacks Burk (is that the correct spelling?). However, since the “evil” alpha defeted the other one, it also took control of the dragons, so they have to improvise to get to Berk.

Thankfully, there are still the baby dragons, which will not be controled by anyone. Not alpha and not really by a human either.

So they get to Berk and Hiccup regains control over Toothless – through their friendship.

After that, Toothless challenges the “evil” alpha and wins, thus kinda becoming the new alpha for all the present dragons.

The movie was amazing and I loved it very much. Mainly all the aerial tricks. As well as the battle of Toothless vs. the Alpha. It was simply great!

After this, I did a bit of a research and found out there will be a third movie, which I just can’t wait to see, seeing as Hiccup become the village leader and I want to see how that will turn out. I’m also interested in what new tricks on dragons there will be.

Can’t wait.

Uh…. Is it just me, or am I really bad at writing reviews? I think I’m not really that great at it, but I love writing it. It’s just… Apart from the storyline and a few sentences about my thoughts, I don’t really have anything to write…

Okay, but seriously, if you’re into animated movies, I think you should watch this one. It will blow you away!

Enough said. I’m now gonna go and rewatch the first Iron Man movie.

“Day two”: A room with a view

(Written on 20. 6. 2014)

So, again, a post related to the writing 101 on dailypost.wordpress.com.

This time the task is to write about a place you want to be in.

So, where would I want to go?

That’s easy. The worlds I dream about. The worlds that center around the organization of DragonOrder I made up and it’s home-world. The ShadowRealm. The city of CrowHaven and the NightmareCastle. But alas, as this place only exists in my imagination, I cannot go there physically. On the other hand, I can retreat there anytime I want whenever and wherever I’m.

I would like to tell you more about the DO, but I will not. that thing is my and mine only. And noone will ever know what exactly it is. I will give you something though. The organization’s main goal is to unify the time flow of every world there is, which is an impossible task seeing as there are new worlds created every second and some of them dissapear.

However, a world is anchored once a time anchor is established. The only exception is when an alternative to an already existing world appears. When that happens and the DO’s agents enter, the previous one will vanish.

However, to tell you more about the DO’s headquarters. Well, not really the castle that is the HQ, but the world. There are dragons there. The most endangered species. The Silver-eyes-black-dragons. More comonly known as silver eyes.

There are not many of them left. However, they call the Shadow Realm their home and will help to defend it if needed.

What more do you want to know? I want to be there.

It is the place of my dreams and maybe, I will be there one day, in some different life. I would like that.

What do you think? Will I ever get there?

I hope I will…

League of Angels

Okay,

before I get sidetracked with “blogging 101: Zero to Hero“, I should probably get this post out of the way, or I might forget. And that would be bad.

So, I wanted to tell you about this one game. It’s called League of Angels. And it is a massive multiplayer online game. Basically, you create your account, you can do this through your google account or facebook and two more. I got my account through google, if I’m not mistaken. But that is not important.

You can pick one of four available characters. Well, technically speaking, it’s two characters that have a male and a female version. If you know me, you know, that I prefer to play as a male character, so it was no wonder I picked a male mage character (Later on, I started on another server and picked the other one). The other character is a knight.

One notable thing about this game is the beautifully drawn characters. Be it the hero or the angels or even the enemies.

The point of this game is to help the angels or something. I confess that I don’t read all the crap they spout. I just play.

2590174-144123544

This game has many different features. Let’s take a look at some of them:

Guardian Angel:

The first one is an angel that is a sort of guardian. In this game, you can unlock many different ones. The best one is Victoriana, but to get her, you have to be very good and participate in all the tournaments and her icon is really more of a prize for like… The best player on the server or so. The second best is Nyssa and you can get her from the arena shop (more about that later). It costs a lot, but if you save your arena tokens, it is possible. The angels fight alongside you and can deal massive damage to your enemies.

Title:

You can obtain different titles throughout the game. It takes time, but they are worth it. The higher title, the better angel you can unlock. And the better title, the better the bonusses. Like health.

135520552_1

Forge:

I will not go into detail about forge. It is similar in almost every game – basically, upgrade your gear and make it more powerfull. Or you can socket gems that boost your stats.

Party:

In this game, you can recruit heroes that will fight together with you. The higher level, the better heroes you can recruit and the more can fight with you at the same time.

Arena:

Fight against the other players and win arena tokens that you can use in arena shop to buy angel icons and other usefull items.

Mount and upgrading heroes:

There is, of course a mount in this game. You can glamour him, but most of the glamours are very hard to obtain. The basic one takes a hundred days of loop quests (daily quests). And only if it oges well. Sometimes, you just aren’t able to finish all of them

Then, there are many different ways to upgrade your party. There is standard upgrade using bless stones, training using soulstones, elemental upgrade and runes. And your main character can upgrade his emblem. But only if you’re in a guld.

Guild:

Usefull, if you want to have a high emblem. The emblem boosts your stats and quite a lot. But it takes a lot of donations to the guild to get guild tokens and exchange them for the material required to upgrade emblems.

And this is the only thing I do in guild. Of course, there are events that let the guilds fight against each other. And many other things. But this is, I thnk, the most important one. And all you need for it is a one-man-guild.

victoriana-1

There is many other features, but it would take too much time to describe them all. Though I just have to mention the Tidal Pool, where you have to catch fish for gold and mainly soulstone. It is great and you obtain more with a higher level pool. Each caught fish adds to the pool’s experience.

And it is one of the things you just have to try out.

Also, this game does not require that much time. And it is pretty! I mean, come on! Though I don’t want to force anyone. Because, even if I do like this game, games are time consuming and should be played with care and certainly not the whole day.

Still, if I caught your interest, go and give it a try. The registration link is somwhere at the top, where I’ve written the game’s name. It leads straight to the registration. I did this to make it easier for you, if you think of playing. And if you do, come and play on server 63 or 138. On server 63, you can find me as Azrael and on server 138 I’m known as Kain.

Okay, I would also like to know what you think of the game, so leave a comment behind. :)

A dragon

HI!

I’ve got a picture for you guys! You see, my mother was playing Taptiles on my computer today and while she was doing that, I took a pencil and a sheat of paper. And I started doodling lines and other squigles. Then, I decided to turn it into a real drawing. So, a dragon came alive. I had some problems with the legs, mainly the hind legs, but I managed. And that’s because I had a poster of a dragon behind me. I studied the legs and found out they are more cat-like than the horse like legs I’ve been always drawing. And this improved my dragon-drawing skills.

The front legs are still a bit of a challenge, but that’s probably because I just don’t know what to do with them. This time though, they came out kinda nicely. So that is good. And even the head came out nicely.

Okay, enough talk, here he is!

Sasha L. Miller – Playing with Shadows

Playing with ShadowsOkay, this story was so cool! A monastery in the middle of nowhere! A servant that is to be sacrificed to demons because there just doesn’t seem to be any other way. And then, an honest priest that wants to save that servant and deal with the demons.

Corrin, the servant, was supposed to be in the monastery eight more months. But, fate would not have that. So, when the head priest starts taking groups of servants to do this shady job of cleaning one and the same table again and again, Corrin is confronted by Rafferty. One of the priests. And he tells the servant all about the demons in the shadows and the sacrifice to apease them. The bloody sacrifice that will most like be Corrin himself. Unless, they do this ritual that would take care of the demons.

Corrin agrees to help. However, when he is one of the ones to clean the dreaded table, things start moving fast. So the next thing that happens is Corrin running to Rafferty and them barricading themselves in Rafferty’s room to do the ritual.

All’s well ends well. And the two of them start snogging and end up leaving to check on the other priests as the demons are exterminated.

A nice little story that captivates. It took a bit of time for me to finish it, but it was worth it. And it was from Amazon, and for free! Isn’t that nice?

So, it might not have that much of slash in it, but the atmosfere is great and anyway, just go and read it! I recommend it! Will definitely be looking into the author. Hopefully, there is more from them and hopefully, it is not too pricey.

See ya.

Terry Milien – Firesong

FiresongA story, pardon, book. From Amazon. About a young phoenix that crashes into the house of someone whose parrents were lost in a fire. The man takes care of the phoenix and makes sure he’s okay.

With time, they grow close and the phoenix protects the human from the villagers that don’t like him.

And so when the phoenixes familly comes finally, they are told he will stay with the mortal. Because, he fell in love. And who are they to stop him, right?

Heh, this sounds lame. But I promise the book itself is much better. Read it practically in one go. And, it didn’t cost me anything. It was one of those that were free. So, if you’re into slash, go get it. It’s good. :)

So, I guess that will be all for this post from me. And I will see to it that I write the next book I finished too.

See ya.

Megan Derr – The High King’s Golden Tongue

A few days back, I finished a good book. It’s called The High King’s Golden Tongue. It’s slash, but that’s exactly the kind of book I like. The book is set in fantasy kingdom where those that can speak many languages are called Silver Tongues.

The main hero is Allen and he is to be the king’s consort. Only, the king turns him away without giving him a second thought. That is because Allen is a schollar, not a fighter, and that is the type of poeple the king keeps close.

The High King's Golden Tongue

Allen then goes and wanders through the city below the castle. There, he meets one of the kings hired secret agents. And they are in need of a transaltor for a mission. So, Allen, knowing twelve different languages, joins them, thinking that he needs to prove his worth.

When the group is captured, and the king realises Allen was there, he goes on a rescue mission. A mission that is a big success. Then, the king finally learns to appreciate Allens talents with languages.

As short as it sounds, it is a good read and I do recommend it to all the slash likers out there.

I really like the style it’s written in and will be looking into more from this author. Got the book from Amazon. On my kindle. Good thing I have it, because Amazon is like the only place where you can get books that are slash. And I mean books, not just fanfiction and other stories.

Oh well, gotta go and read something more. Or, write about another book I finished reading.

See ya.

R. A. Salvatore: Legend of Drizzt – Streams of Silver

Hi,

I’m reading another book from the Legend of Drizzt series. This one is called Streams of Silver and it is fifth in the series. I’m more than half way through and even though I haven’t finished it yet, I decided to start writing this post while still reading. There are several points of view and plot lines and that needs more attention and taht’s why I’m starting while still reading.

The story starts with our four friends heading towards Luskan. You asking who the friends are? Well, there’s Bruenor Battlehammer (Warhammer would have been better…), then the young barbar Wulfgar, halfling Regis, who originally wasn’t planning on joining them on their quest and last is the main character of this series – the drow Drizzt Do’Urden. Their goal on this journey is to find the legendary Halls of Mithril (is that right? I’m not sure about the original names as I have it in czech), the original home of Bruenor.

b6600c1e42aa4799282c1eef6f74d174

Their first stop is Lusnak where they need to find Whisper (again, is that what she’s called in the original?) in order to obtain a map of the lands they will be travelling. While Drizzt and Bruenor are going for the map, Wulfgar and Regis get caught in a pub brawl with Wulfgar being the sole victor.

Now, here we need to skip to a different plotline. And that would be Artemis Entreri. An assassin hired by Pook to kill Regis. He is following them and while in the Ten Towns, he finds Catti. And when he leaves her alive, she decides to follow him and possibly even be faster then him in order to warn Bruenor and the others. However, she is caught by him and forced to go with him. When they reach Luskan, Bruenor and his group are already gone. That is not stopping them though. Confronted by the wizards – mainly Dendybar (what’s his original last name?). He wants to know where is the crystal that Akar Kessel from the last book used to control all the minions.

Drizzt__for_the_fangirls_by_keelerleah

And so Entreri joins forces with the wizard and is acompanied on the next part of his journy by Sydeny, a young witch, Jierdan, a soldier and Bok, who is a golem controled by Dendybar and Sydney.

Now, let’s go back to Bruenor and the others. They reach the home of the Harpels after fighting with barbars from that part of the world. The Harpels invite them to stay and are eager to interrogate Drizzt on his race. Then they go on their way again. This time in the direction of Nesme and then Silvermoon (is that how the city is called?). In the land controled by Nesme, they are however confronted by soldiers and forced to go a different way through the swamps full of trolls? Yes, it was trolls.

With a lot of luck, they manage to fight their way through and reach the outskrits of Silvermoon. There, Drizzt is denied entrance and so the others refuse to enter without him. They camp outside and later on, Drizzt is visited by Alustriel, the lady of Silvermoon. She gives him some pretty good advice and then they continue on their way.

Drizzt_flees_the_Hunter_by_keelerleah

Going back to Entreri and his group. On magical horses, they reached Silvermoon and decided to wait for Drizzt and co. inside the city. Leaving Bok outside. However, Bok catches a whif of Drizzt and barges in the town destroying the walls in the process. The wizards from Silvermoon are fascinated by the golem and want to study it. And Sydney grudgingly allowes it under the condition they won’t dismantle it. In any way.

Drizzt and co. in the meantime reach an old fortress where a very old man lives. He gives them advice and then Bruenor drinks a potion that will let the memories of the Mithrill halls surfice. And with this they are able to continue on their journey.

Reaching the mountains they find an old dwarven dwelling. One, that is special, because it’s above ground. Then, it only takes a little more to reach the entrance to the Halls. Unfortunately, their hunters are very close.

In_the_Cave___Drizzt_Do__Urden_by_CG_Warrior

At this point, Entreri and his group are in the mountains as well. And with some luck, Catti manages to escape. Also, Entreri finally gets bored with Jierdan and when the soldier confronts the assassin, Entreri killes him. In the meantime, Catti hits Sydney and runs off. When Bok is sent after her, she traps him with and avalanche thus managing to get away from her captors and reaching Bruenor and his group.

Then, Bruenor’s group finally manages to open the secret door to the Halls and all of them enter. Going through the halls, they finally figure out what drowe the dwarfs out. It was the duregars. The underground version of dwarfs.

And this is as far as I’m so far. I will continue this when I finish the last part of the book. Only one thing to add, when Sydney and Entreri find the placement of the entrance, they have Bok break through thus entering the halls too.

Watching_over_you____by_LucioCrescent

Okay, I finished the book, so we can continue this.

Okay, so they’re in the Halls of Mithril. Now, they need to go through. However, they are not the only ones in and certainly not the only ones that entered. First, the Halls are controled by this nasty mean black dragon, whose original name I don’t know.

Then, Entreri, Sydney and Bok entered the Halls after our heroes. Why Bok? Well, he simply survived the avalanche. Simple as that. Okay, moving on. They get to this weird hall where there are two hallways blocked each by ten doors leading in. And that is where they are caught by their pursuerers (spelling?).

So they battle. And in the process, Drizzt and Entreri manage to launch a trap of sorts and both fall through the floor. The rest split and Bruenor and his group continue thinking that Drizzt is dead. What is Sydney doing is not important.

Meanwhile. Drizzt and Entreri agree on something – they have to get out. And their best chance is to join forces. So they walk and walk and in the end, they reach a place where the others are.

The others are walking through the hallways and enter a place that is ruined and has a hole in the wall and that is when Bruenor tells them about the dragon. And that is where they find a magical bow and arrows.

In the end, they have to fight the dragon head on. And Drizzt is tricked by Entreri who pulls him down and he himself manages to climb a cliff only to capture Regis. Thus making Drizzt swear he will find him and kill him.

All the while, Bruenor did something very stupid. Using oil, fire and a lot of luck, he jumped on the dragon and lit it on fire. Only to fall down the pit with it. Making his friends believe that he’s dead. Even though he’s not. And then, they all leave the place returning to the Harpels. There, Drizzt and Wulfgar decide they will hunt Entreri while Catti wants to reclaim the Halls of Mithril in Bruenor’s stead, not knowing he’s alive.

As for Sydney, she was killed sometime during the battle. As well as was Bok.

Now, only one last part. The one with Dendybar. Let’s say, he’s dead. Killed by his own creation possesed by his “greatest” enemy.

zaknafein_and_drizzt_wallpaper_by_athena_erocith-d3c4hip

Okay, that’s it. That’s the book. And I have to say, I was reading very fast, wanting to know what will happen next. Today, I took it back to the library and borrowed another one in the series. It will have to wait though. I’m reading… *runs to check the original name*

Got it. The Charlemagne Pursuit from the series with Cotton Malone. Not bad, also, I’ve got another Cherub book. Though that one will be last. First Charlemagne, then Drizzt, and finaly, last will be the Cherub book.

If you know this book, tell me, what you think about it. If you don’t know it, just tell me something else. xD

See ya.
